2 Necessities, and a New Product

I have been trying to change things up a bit. I started using my old Canon Rebel to start taking pictures now, trying to revitalize my love of photography and blogging. So, there you have it. I am amping it up.

IMG_3960

Do you ever feel like you need a total change once the season changes, or you come back from vacation? I am in that mood right now. I really want to try new things, and change some of my old habits, and just liven up my life. I am getting over the jet lag (thank goodness), and trying to become more productive. Do you ever find that the more things that you try to do, the less time that you have to do them, and then you feel like you did nothing because you weren’t able to complete that one task? I wanted to bake muffins today, but instead, I found myself taking pictures with my camera and not having the time because I have to leave soon to go to a workout class. Maybe tonight? Lets try for that shall we?

IMG_3926

Now that it is springtime, and getting into summer, my allergies have been brutal. There hasn’t been a morning in the past few weeks where I haven’t woken up sneezing. What saves me? Reactine. I don’t think that I could comfortably go through the day without it to be honest. It has seriously been a life saver, and I just went to the store to pick some up. I know that some people don’t believe in using a type of anti-histamine, but I really find that it helps me get through the day, and if it works, stick with it. (Just as a disclaimer, this is in no way a sponsored post, I just really like this product. And that goes for any and every product on my blog so far).

IMG_3927

On the same note, while I was picking up my trusting anti-sneeze meds, I picked up another L’Oreal Magic Skin Beautifier B.B. Cream. I had just ran out of it, but I hadn’t quite thrown it out yet, so I was just using up the last few squeezes out of the tube the past couple of days, and I really like it for summer. It really feels light, and gives a nice gentle coverage that doesn’t look cakey on my skin. I find with a lot of B.B. creams, that they feel more like a foundation than a moisturizer. I tend to where it a lot when I go to work, and because this cream comes out white, it actually matches your skin tone, so even if you have a bit of a tan, it doesn’t end up looking too dark or too light. Plus, it was on sale so…

IMG_3925

I am really excited about my last purchase. I finally bought the Revlon Colorburst Balm Stain in the colour Honey. Chalk it up to leighannsays for this one, but I have been wanting to try this for ages, but never got around to purchasing it. I am so excited to use this. She always talks about this balm stain, and I have always wanted to try it. It really is the your-lips-but-better, type of colour. And it doesn’t have a super distinct taste (just kind of minty), and it feels really like a chap stick more than anything. Let’s just say that I am digging it. I even took my first selfie for this blog while wearing it. Does it look good? The fear has been overcome.

IMG_3992

Let’s keep on this roll shall we? I think that I will talk about my garden that I am so loving right now. Thank goodness for summer. I love being outside and watching everything become green and beautiful again. It’s heaven.

To London for Soap and Glory

IMG_2284

I haven’t been writing in a while. Why? Because I have been planning and working on getting ready to go to Europe, where I have been for the entire month of May. Holy Moly it was amazing! We went to Great Britain, Spain, and Portugal, and I seriously wish that I could live there. Seriously. I am thinking about doing a packing blog post that will be coming up pretty soon, so that will be pretty awesome (I hope).

While in London, we of course went to Boots (if you don’t know what Boots is, it is a fantastic pharmacy/drugstore in the U.K.), that I have been dying to go to for Soap and Glory products. Why? Because they are amazing. So, of course, they fortunately had their very famous 2 for 3 sale and I picked up 3 amazing products that I am so excited to try. And here they are:

IMG_3949

1. Pulp-Friction Foamy Fruity Body Scrub. This smells absolutely glorious and I cannot wait to use it. I love to make my skin feel super exfoliated and smooth. I have slightly bumpy and kind of dry skin, so I find it super helpful to scrub off that layer of dead skin cells. And as an added bonus the Soap and Glory scrubs are extremely moisturizing also, which is fantastic and not super common with all scrubs. I don’t use body scrubs every day, but at least once a week I will, especially when I am having a nice shower at the end of the day or before I night out. Unfortunately, if I love this stuff I am unsure as to whether it is in Canada or not, but I haven’t seen it. So I will have to look.

IMG_3950

2. Smooth Star Breakfast Scrub. This is even more amazing, if you can believe it. (And I just realized while writing this post that I just bought 3 body scrub products. Well, why not when they are the best. I don’t even care). Anyways, this particular scrub actually smells like maple cookies, and even smells moisturizing. I am so excited to start using this one as well because I have never even heard of this particular scrub. Yum. I almost want to eat this product because it smells so amazing. If you find it, open it up and smell, and you will know what I am talking about.

IMG_3951

3. Lastly, I bought another Flake Away Scrub. I actually already have bought and used this scrub, which is how and why I completely fell in love with Soap and Glory products. This was the stuff that opened such a love that I can’t even tell you how much I am loving this line. It smells amazing, and all of the packing is different shades of pink and evokes the retro love that I have in life. I just feel like an adorable 50’s modern house wife when I see this stuff. It is awesome. Back to the love of this particular product, when I opened this product when I got home, I realized that they had actually moderately changed this formula. The colour of the product that I have at home is actually a bright yellow and kind of stains my tub a bit until I clean my bathroom with this wonderful colour. However, the new stuff smells the exact same and looks similarly scrubby, but is brownish in colour now. I am not upset. The yellow was fun, but I wouldn’t mind using a darker colour, just as long as the product stays the same. This is seriously the scrub that I don’t even feel like I have to moisturize after using it because it makes my skin feel like buttery soft and so smooth. I tell my husband to feel different parts of my body because they just feel so nice (and I don’t hear any complaints). I seriously love this stuff, and it is worth the $18 to $20 that they are at home.

I need to go and have a bath now that I am so excited to use this stuff. If you haven’t tried any Soap and Glory scrubs, I highly recommend them. I love them so much that I traveled all of the way to London just to get them. Now that is love.

Holy Grail Haircare Products

It has taken me a long time to get my hair the way that I really want it. My hair is dyed strawberry blonde, and is fairly long, and very curly. My hair isn’t very coarse, but is kind of fine, and wispy. It can look very nice and curly, or it just looks quite frizzy. So I have a few products that help me tame the beast.

image

1. MoroccanOil Curl Defining Cream. This product was an amazing find for me that I found in a salon and decided to try. This has changed my hair so much for the better. It really defines curls, and reduces the frizz in my hair. I love this stuff. It is a very creamy product, and you don’t need to use a lot of it (and it lasts such a long time). I use it after I have washed my hair and slightly towel-dried hair. I pump some into my hand (about a nickel sized amount), rub it between my hands, and scrunch it through my hair. I part my hair off the centre part, to the left, and then I leave it. I don’t blow-dry my hair very often, and I certainly don’t after this product because I find that it does make my hair a little bit more frizzy, so I just let it air dry. I love this product.

2. kms California Moist Repair Therapy Treatment. This product is for damaged hair, but I find that it just adds to much more moisture to my hair and makes it super silky. My hair was going through a bit of a dry period in the winter, so I bought this at the recommendation from my hairdresser, and I love it. I don’t wash my hair a whole lot, so when I do I like a very heavy conditioner (to last me 3 to 4 days). No, I don’t need to wash my hair that often at all. Being kind of a drier person, my hair takes a lot to get very greasy. Anyways, if your hair is super dry, or you just need a very moisturizing hair mask/conditioner, than you need this product (plus, they are all safe for colour-treated hair).

3. Pantene Pro-V Hairspray Classic-All Hair Types. This is such a nice hairspray that doesn’t give a lot of hold, but gives just enough to control frizz, and tame your hair. I hate hairspray that makes your hair feel like helmet, and makes it very hard and stiff. I like how this product really makes it very touchable and soft, while still keeping it mostly in place. It is great for curls.

4. MoroccanOil Treatment for fine or light-coloured hair. I use this when I am going for my natural hair. I have been using this product for a few years, and it makes my hair very soft and silky. I use it when I am have straightened my hair and need to tame some fly-aways, or just after I have washed my hair and I comb this through and let my hair do whatever. Or I put it in and then put my hair in a bun and let it dry. It makes my hair stay somewhat curly, and easy looking. I don’t know what I would do without it.

5. Healthy Sexy Hair Soy Tri-Wheat Leave In Conditioner. I got this in an Ipsy Bag a little while ago, and I love this stuff. I still haven’t gone out to buy the full-sized bottle because I haven’t gone through this one just yet. This product is great for when I straighten my hair for sure. It makes it so soft and silky, and I don’t know how I have lived so long and never used it. You use it on wet/towel-dried hair, and comb it through. If you have never used this product. You need to!

6. Lastly, the Healthy Sexy Hair Spray Clay. I also got this product in an Ipsy Bag, and I take this with me to revitalize my curly hair. For second day hair, this product is amazing. It really gives your hair more volume, and makes it look fresh. Plus, it makes your hair smell amazing! I will definitely be buying the larger version of this product because I have realized that I have just run out.

So, there are just a few of my most loved haircare products. I realize that I have a few more than I really thought that I did, but I love all of these. If you have any other recommendations for me that would be appreciated for sure. Thanks for reading!

Products That I Have Used Up

weheartit.com

weheartit.com

I can’t believe that it is the beginning of April already. Where has the time gone? Seriously. Good thing is that I have actually used up some of my products. Whoohoo! This rarely happens I think because when you use so many products, it makes it difficult to make it through them all, let alone one of them. Beauty problems.

image

1. L’Oreal Magic Skin Beautifier BB cream in Fair. I bought this BB cream a long time ago (obviously, as the “BB” part is rubbed off), and I usually use it when I am going to work to just give my skin a little bit of coverage. It goes on very interestingly, because it is white with little beads inside, but when you rub it on your skin it blends it. The consistency is a bit drying and powdery, but it does the job. I may buy it again, but I would try a few others before buying this one.

image

2. La Roche-Posay Rosaliac UV Riche. I love this product. It even has SPF. I use this pretty well everyday and I love using it. I talked about this product in My Morning Skincare Routine post. It is really hydrating on my skin and does help with a bit of the redness that I get on my cheeks and by my nose. I will be repurchasing this from the drugstore.

3. Papaya Body Butter from the Body Shop. I have just a little bit left in this tub, but it is practically gone. I use it almost every night and it really makes my skin super soft and moisturized. Most of all, I really love the smell of this. Unfortunately, I only bought this a few months ago and I am almost out! I talked about this product in my Body Shop Haul post. When the Body Shop has another sale I will probably buy another few of just this product.

I think in the next few months I am going to be trying a few new things and not buying much of the same products. Stay tuned.

The Body Shop

image

The Body Shop had 50% off a few weeks ago! I love when this happens and I have a need for getting some new products. I haven’t gotten Body Shop products in ages, and I have found that The Body Shop have been having so many good deals lately. So I went a little crazy and bought maybe a few more products that I probably ought to. Is 9 too many? I have tried most of them so far, so heres a review in order of likes.

image

1. Papaya Body Butter – I have been covering my whole body in this every night for the past few nights. It smells so fruity and is so moisturizing. When I wake up my skin feels so soft and buttery. Plus my pajamas smell lovely too.

2. Coconut Body Scrub – I have to say that I love body scrubs. If there is anything worth using in the shower, it is a scrub. Coconut just makes it smell like summer, the beach, and being a teenager. I used to wear Coconut Body Butter every date night as a teen and I love that smell.

3. Loofahs – I bought 3 of them. Is that too many? They were $1.50, and you can’t get much cheaper than that for even a drugstore loofah. These ones are infinitely better. They are thicker, and lather soap better, and I find that they do last a lot longer too. Plus, they are in this beautiful blue colour. I should have bought more. (Actually, they are called Refining Bath Lilies, haha).

4. Mango and Papaya Shower Gel – These smell absolutely amazing and I love the way that it makes my skin feel. I find that sometimes with shower gels they can leave your skin feeling slightly dry, especially in the winter. However, I don’t find that with The Body Shop shower gels. At all. They are great.

5. Pink Grapefruit Body Scrub – Out of everything fruity, I love the smell of pink grapefruit. As you can tell with some of the other moisturizers that I like, pink grapefruit will be the one that I am drawn to the most.

6. Satsuma Body Butter – I love this scent and I am so happy that I got this one in this a travel size so that I can take this around with me everywhere. So that I can really add to the plethora of hand creams to bring around in my purse and make it infinitely heavier. I love it.

I can’t wait to use all of these up and buy more. I should have bought more.

Damn You Dry Shampoo

image

To start off with, I really haven’t been using dry shampoo for all that long really. And to be honest, I still don’t know what to think of it. I get that it makes your unwashed hair appear “washed” again, but I don’t find that it really does a whole lot for my hair. At least nothing that just wetting my hair doesn’t do.

Plus, is there a problem with a white cast for everyone? How did Batiste Dry Shampoo actually get all that popular? This is what I really don’t understand. I mean really, all it does is make it super difficult for me to get my hair looking “normal”. Like, seriously. Here is how the process goes: first, I spray it as close to the roots as I possibly can (which sometimes is not very close), and then try like hell to get the “white” out. And most of the times I still find that “whiteness” in my hair after like an hour. What is up with that? Does everyone have this problem or am I just using the wrong product?

Maybe I should just try a new dry shampoo, but I have to say that I am really turned off of it. I mean, it smells nice, which is a huge plus. The packaging is pretty adorable, which doesn’t hurt. But why can’t I get it to work for me? It isn’t like it makes my hair amazing. It maybe makes it a little softer and less greasy (not that it gets that greasy), but not to the extent that I can’t live without it. So many people rave about it. I don’t know. I am just not all that impressed with it.

There, my complaining is over. Damn you Batiste Dry Shampoo!

New Products in January

I have been working this whole weekend, and I should be doing laundry right now, but I got inspired to write a blog post and went with it. Currently, I am watching Zoella on Youtube. I love her. Just is so adorable and I love

In the beginning of January there are always new products that come out and I love that. I like trying new products, because you never know what you are going to like. Also, do you ever feel like when you buy a product, and you keep using it just because you don’t have anything better? For instance, I have been using the Maybelline BB Cream, and to be honest, I don’t really like it a whole lot. It makes my skin look “ok”, and I find it makes me look really pale. It is the BB cream that is supposed to match your skin. Maybe I really am that pale and don’t want to admit it? Maybe.

image

1. Anyways, I bought something new that should kind of work like a BB cream, but is actually a foundation. (So, I completely thought that this was a BB cream, but when I started looking more at the package, I realized that it is a foundation. That makes sense. I will explain). I bought the Rimmel Stay Matte Liquid Mousse Foundation in the the shade 100 Ivory, which turned out to be a perfect colour for me. I always like to match my skin to what I am when I am pale. I don’t tan very well, and I am better off to buy a foundation that matches my skin 70% of the year. I know some people buy more than one to match when they are more tanned. That isn’t me. Why waste your money? When do you know when you become less tanned? You could run into some trouble there.

I should probably talk about the product. I really like it. We can move on now (j/k). It feels very light, but still like you are wearing a creamy moisturizer. A little goes a long way with this product I have found. You can use too much, and you really don’t need to. It blends out really well and I have found that it doesn’t really smudge very easily, like when you wipe your face and you find foundation on your fingers (doesn’t really happen). I really like the packaging as well, and I appreciate that it comes in a tube (I hate bottles), so that you can control how much comes out. Mostly. It doesn’t make my face look greasy, or dry, and the coverage is great. It definitely covered up my red spots quite well. I just used a small amount of light concealer under my eyes and over top some more angry red spots.

image

2. I went out and got the much talked about Maybelline Baby Skin Instant Pore Eraser. To be honest, I know that I just bought the Benefit Porefessional not that long ago, but this one came out and I really wanted to try it. I know that people compare the Baby Skin more to the Smashbox primer, and I agree that it doesn’t feel or look at all like the Benefit product. I even used this one on my husband in different areas of his face to try to see the difference between the two (he actually let me, which was pretty awesome). To be honest, the Benefit product did work a little better to blur your pores, but I like the consistency of the Baby Skin. It is a little more lightweight, and doesn’t really feel like you are wearing anything on your skin. It does a decent job of blurring your pores, but it isn’t perfect. I do like that it is less than half of the price of the Porefessional, so I would be more likely to use it on a daily basis and not worry about it running out too fast. Plus, the colour of the tube is wonderful. Actually, both are in a similar colour family. I just like the packaging of products really. What do you need to draw me in? Something nice to look at. There. I said it.

I didn’t really get a huge amount of products, but I did find ones that I had researched a lot and were very interested in trying. I will definitely continue to use them and they are perfect to travel with.

Speaking of travel (nice segway eh?), my husband and I have booked our next trip! We are going to Ireland, Spain, and Portugal in May! I have wanted to go to these places for such a long time. I really didn’t want to stop travelling until I had gone and now we are going! My husband booked the flights yesterday and we will be spending a few days in London, then off to Dublin, and home from Lisbon, Portugal. I will give you more details when the planning gets more intense.
